Network Investigation and Analysis has been a hot topic in Cyber Investigation, with the latest APAC cyber investigations training conference including Network Forensics as part of their training agenda. Nexusguard was one of the invited speakers at the event, showcasing the measures of Network Forensic against 3 cases of DDoS attacks.

Network Forensics is generally more challenging than Computer Forensics, especially in the case of differentiating clean traffic from attack traffic in DDoS attacks. - Tony Miu, SOC Manager of Nexusguard

Network Investigation and Analysis has come to the forefront of attention for High Technology Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA), with the host inviting various experts to speak at its Asia Pacific Training Conference, in front of hundreds security experts in APAC. The aim of the conference was to reinforce industry awareness of Network Forensics.
Tony Miu, SOC Manager of Nexusguard and the Certified Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI), was one of the invited speakers to conduct “Network Investigation and Analysis”, a workshop showcasing the effective measures to analyze cyber investigation, employing real cases from more than 50 global candidates.
Tony has been at the forefront of the DDoS battlefield - monitoring, identifying, mitigating and pre-empting attackers' every move. Thus, he understands the importance of first-hand experience for security experts, especially the officers from governmental bodies. The workshop allowed him to present 3 real cases, allowing candidates to conduct “real” investigation on 2 RUSH attacks, as well as a Targeted attack on an Online Energy platform.
“Organizations such as SANS has provided a comprehensive standard of forensic skills and procedure, but showing real cases can provide them with a real, firsthand experience in handling attacks and defenses,” Tony said.
He emphasized that Network Forensics is an evolving trends in cyber investigation and that currently, few security firms provide both computer and network forensic service to the market. “Network Forensics is generally more challenging than Computer Forensics, especially in the case of differentiating clean traffic from attack traffic in DDoS attacks.”
