The last section of my Windows Exploitation study was on finding bugs in proprietary or open source software through whatever means necessary. It covers static code analysis tools, fuzzing, and manual code auditing. A snippet from the assignment:
"Find a piece of shareware, or some other application that you feel should have some bugs that aren't too crazy to discover and see what you can find."
Of course I jumped on download.com to see what I could find. Since I'm not chasing anything too crazy, I settled on Fortissimo, a media player that was supposedly released in April 2014.
