NCC Group recently carried out a phishing and Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) simulation assessment against one of its clients using email-based phishing as a method to gain initial access.
This type of assessment has become very popular with a number of NCC Group's mature clients, as it assesses not only the level of user education and technical countermeasures, but also the clients’ ability to detect and respond to an attack in real-time.
What made this assessment interesting though was the fact that the client was primarily using Apple Mac OS X on its machines and relied heavily on the cloud for its infrastructure and storage of their client data.
