One Hundred Zaxby Chiken Fast-Food Restaurants Contain Suspicious Malware Files

Dear Guests,

         Zaxby’s Franchising, Inc. and our licensees take the security of our guests’ information very seriously and we want to inform you of an incident affecting the security of electronic personal credit and debit card information at certain Zaxby’s locations.

         Credit card processing companies identified certain Zaxby’s locations as common points of purchase for some fraudulent credit card activity. Zaxby’s Franchising, Inc. assisted those stores in reviewing the issue, and during the course of the investigation identified some suspicious malware files on the licensees’ computer systems at several Zaxby’s locations. Because those malware files could have been used to export guest names and credit and debit card numbers, Zaxby’s Franchising, Inc. informed appropriate law enforcement authorities of the potential criminal activity. Zaxby’s Franchising, Inc. is working with all of its store locations to implement additional security measures to prevent further intrusions. Below is a list of affected stores, which we will update as appropriate.

         Because neither we nor our licensees have sufficient contact information to notify potentially affected guests directly, we are providing you with this notice so that you can be proactive to protect your personal information to minimize potential risk. Zaxby’s Franchising, Inc. has notified the three major U.S. credit reporting agencies about this incident and have given those agencies a general report, but we have not notified them regarding any individual consumer.
