Description
Cisco Security Intelligence Operations has detected significant activity related to spam e-mail messages that claim to a secure message from Bank of America for the recipient. The text in the e-mail message attempts to convince the recipient to open the attachment to view or download the message. However, the .zip attachment contains a malicious .exe file that, when executed, attempts to infect the system with malicious code.
E-mail messages that are related to this threat (RuleID5095 and RuleID5095KVR) may contain the following files:
securedoc.zip
securedoc.exe
The securedoc.exe file in the securedoc.zip attachment has a file size of 137,216 bytes. The MD5 checksum, which is a unique identifier of the executable, is the following string: 0x7CADE1CEB35491BA84154FD0924E44B8
A variant of the securedoc.exe file in the securedoc.zip attachment has a file size of 136,704 bytes. The MD5 checksum is the following string: 0x315B81B62FB81BAA990F1317F1B68610
