nProtect adds keypad remapping and anti-tampering to protect against stealing of mobile information

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) January 23, 2013
nProtect offers mobile banking and payment users with newly added security features to protect user’s confidential information. Malware for mobile devices are on the rise at an exponential rate in the past few years. For Android, which does not require any approval to upload applications to the marketplace, seemingly genuine applications with malicious code injected into them are being uploaded daily at a much greater rate than iOS.
The new keypad remapping (shuffling) and anti-tampering (rooting and jailbreaking detection) features were recently added to the existing anti-malware and keypad encryption features to ensure mobile users with safe mobile payments, money transfers, balance checks, and other banking and payment activities.
Mobile malwares can steal information in real-time through “Man-in-the-mobile” (Mitmo), a Trojan spyware for mobile, intercept OTP SMS messages, and send stored information directly to the cybercriminal. More than 1000 new mobile virus signatures are updated by nProtect to protect users against the latest malwares.
Users can better protect their mobile device from malware infection by carefully choosing and downloading applications. However, there are users who tamper their phones byrooting or jailbreaking to gain administrative rights to the phone, allowing users to download third party applications. This significantly increases the risk of downloading malicious applications. nProtect Mobile Security will determine if the mobile device in question has been tampered and deter the user from using mobile banking and risk losing confidential information.
The keypad rearrangement feature rearranges the keypad whenever the user wishes to, so no one can easily steal important log-in information by looking over the shoulder.
As more people start to use mobile devices, cybercriminals are coming up with more ways to steal data from the mobile device. It is crucial that mobile users always secure their phones, download applications with caution, and implement security solution to prevent losing important data.
